Message From The President

Learn the many benefits of MLSM membership. 

I was honoured to be elected President of MLSM at the recently concluded Annual General Meeting at the Perdana Room of the Royal Lake Club. It will not be an easy task to follow in the footsteps of our Immediate Past President, Dhinesh Baskaran, who did an excellent job to raise the MLSM's profile during his tenure and increase the membership drive.

The MLSM has approximately 574 members spanning three professions: doctors, solicitors and barristers. Associate members represent professionals working in the medico-legal industry including allied health practitioners, nurses, medical administrators, medical defence organizations, medico-legal reporting agencies and tertiary students of medicine and law. The mix of members provides a unique opportunity for practitioners of these disciplines to meet, share knowledge and exchange views of medico-legal issues and to understand how these issues affect each profession.

We hope to come up with a MLSM Award to recognize the outstanding contribution made by members of the medical, legal or scientific community. This award is the highest expression of esteem which the society can convey and is intended to honour members who have made a significant contribution to their profession as well as either the society or community at large and those contributions with the values of the society. With a committee of a good mix of youth and experienced leaders in the legal and medical profession, we would like to explore and expand on the MLSM Expert Witness directory.

Lastly, we will be ever willing to consider any suggestions or constructive criticism that members may have and enhance social networking opportunities between these two professions.
